Four Wake County business leaders were selected today to join the Board of Directors of Wake Education Partnership. Those selected for three-year terms to the Partnership's Board of Directors are Gray Reed, Regional President for BB&T's Triangle Region; Doug Sprecher, Group Vice President, Sales and Service Delivery, and Retail Segment Executive of Raleigh-based First Citizens Bank, Damon Dishman, Wachovia Community Bank President and Vice President for Carolinas Community Banking Group, Triangle East Region, and Triangle East North Division; and Tom Adams, President and Chief Operations Officer of Welty Building Company, LLC of North Carolina. The terms for all four will begin July 1. In addition to approving the new appointments, the Partnership's Board of Directors also approved a change that renames the organization's advisory board. That group, made up of some of the community's most respected leaders, is now known as the Wake Education Partnership Leadership Council. Ann Goodnight, Director of Community Relations at SAS Institute; Rodney Gaddy, Vice President of Progress Energy's Northern Region; and Patti Gillenwater, president and CEO of Elinvar were approved as the newest members of the council. Their terms begin July 1. Wake Education Partnership plays a critical role in helping business leaders, elected officials and educators work toward the common goal of increasing student performance measured against world-class academic standards.
