Education Exchange: Town Hall Meetings

As part of our Education Exchange program, Wake Ed is planning a series of town-hall style meetings to provide more information citizens need to understand the details of school construction in Wake County. The first two meetings have been scheduled -- check below for details. No registration is required to attend.
March 22, 2007 | 7-8:30 p.m. | Knightdale Town Hall
The first meeting will focus on how growth is projected and how school sites are selected in Wake County. Russell Killen, member of the Citizen Facilities Advisory Committee and the Wake Ed Board of Directors, will facilitate the meeting. Chuck Dulaney, WCPSS assistant superintendent for growth and planning, and Mike Burriss, WCPSS assitant superintendent for facilities, will present information and answer questions. The Knightdale Town Hall is located at 950 Steeple Square Court.
May 9, 2007 | 7-8:30 p.m. | Holly Springs Cultural Center
The second meeting will look at school construction and how Wake County compares to districts around the country. Jeff Merritt, member of the Wake Ed Board of Directors, will facilitiate the meeting, with special guests Rob Weaver and Mike Burriss. The Holly Springs Cultural Center is located at 300 W. June 11 , 2007 | 7-8:30 p.m. | Brier Creek Community Center
The third meeting will discuss the 2007-08 school system budget, as well as policies and practices which exist to ensure financial accountability. Gordon Brown, a member of the Wake Ed Board of Directors, will facilitate the meeting. Presenters from WCPSS will be Chief Business Officer David Neter, Finance Officer Mark Winters and Budget Officer Terri Kimzey. Presentations will be followed by time for Q&A and discussion with participants.The Brier Creek Comunity Center is located at 10810 Globe Road.
