PTA Liasons
Wake Education Partnership is committed to engaging all members of the community. Significant among our allies are the parents of Wake County public school children. With their valuable input and front-line experiences, parents offer an important voice at the Partnership. Parents can be great advocates for their children – by working with the Partnership, parents can also be advocates for students throughout Wake County. Being an effective advocate also means being informed. Through Partnership programs, parents have the opportunity to learn more about public education issues and opportunities in Wake County and across the nation. Some members of the Partnership’s Board of Directors are themselves parents of Wake County public school children and speak with that voice on the board. Parent representatives also serve on various Partnership committees.
The PTA Liaison Program is a Wake Education Partnership committee designed in 1998 specifically for parent representatives. In 2005, the PTA Liaison Program merged with the Wake Regional Education Roundtable program. As liaisons, parents attend the Roundtables as a representative of their school PTA to learn about relevant education topics and Partnership programs. Liaisons keep their school’s parents, teachers and administrators informed about the mission and work of the Partnership. Additionally, liaisons can schedule a speaker from Wake Education Partnership for PTA meetings.
The Partnership’s goal is to have at least one liaison per school. To find out if your school has a liaison, or to express interest in the program, contact Candace Wolfenbarger at 919.821.7609.
