- What are the requirements for teaching in critical needs areas?
- Must have a degree major relevant to the teaching area
- Must be licensable in North Carolina:
- Hold at least a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited university
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or have passed the Praxis 1 exams and have attained one of the following:
- GPA of at least 3.0 on all work in the senior year
- GPA of at least 3.0 in the major, or
- GPA of at least 3.0 in a minimum of 15 semester hours of coursework completed in the last 5 years

Yes! The Bridges to Success Network Program was designed to assist mid-career professionals with no teaching experience with their transition to a career in teaching.
- How do I apply for the Bridges to Success Network Program?
You must first get a teaching position in Wake County.
Complete a BSN application when you attend the 10-Day Orientation Session
- What are the eligibility requirements for the BSN Program?
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in science, mathematics, business, sociology/psychology, foreign language and English as a Second Language
- Minimum 3.0 GPA in major
- Leadership service experiences
- Evidence of civic commitment (volunteer work, coaching, leadership development programs)
- Outstanding character references
- When does the BSN Program begin?
Each cohort group of 50 teachers begins in August of the new school year.
- How long does the BSN Program last?
Participation in the Bridges to Success Network Program is for two years.
- How long do I have to complete licensure requirements?
The State of North Carolina allows teachers three years to complete all licensure requirements
