Student Performance
In addition to individual school results, it is common to break down test scores by ethnicity. The approach is similar to the way results are broken down in the No Child Left Behind program without the mandatory sanctions of NCLB.

The chart below shows Wake County's performance over time. Note that the gaps are largest immediately after standards were raised in reading and math. The increased scores in 2008-2009 were aided by a new state policy that required students be tested a second time if they fell just below grade level on the first administration.
